About the Swedish Food Truck Championships
The Swedish Food Truck Championships (Food Truck-SM) takes place on Friday 6 of September during Sthlm Street Food. Each Food Truck competes with its own food, from the regular range or with a newly composed dishes. The dish must be adapted to regular serving and be quickly served to many guests. Winners must after the competition have the winning dish on their regular menu, and prepare it with the same recipe used in the competition. All Food Trucks and food carts with towing vehicles with approved permits can register to set up.
The purpose of the competition
The purpose is to showcase and strengthen the entrepreneurs who have chosen to serve good and exciting food from a Food Truck, and appoint the best Food Truck in Sweden in different categories. The goal is to increase the status of Food Trucks in Sweden and create a festive event around the Street Food phenomenon. After completing the competition, the food festival is open for the public in Kungsträdgården.
Assessment
The contestants are divided into different competition categories based on the type of food you compete with. Each category has its own jury group.
The categories are:
- Burgers
- Veggie & Vegan
- Food served in bread
- Food served on plate
The jury considers:
-Taste
- Presentation
- Overall impression when handing over the food from the trolley as well as service & hygiene
- How easy it is to eat standing
- Creativity
- Time
Registration
1. First, the Food Truck owner makes fills out an application form.
2. Stockholmsmässan confirms the participation.
3. The contestant reaffirms the participation. After that, cancellation cannot be made.
In the event of a "no show", the truck will be charged a fee of SEK 1,000. Stockholmsmässan owns the right to choose who is involved, but early registrations are given priority as the number of competitors are limited. Please note that it is not allowed to move the carriages during events in progress. We welcome competitors from all over Sweden and long-distance food trucks (over 20 miles one way) have the right to apply for travel allowance corresponding to SEK 32 / mil ex VAT. The travel allowance is deducted directly from the participant fee, however with a maximum of SEK 0 total.
The Public´s favorite
The price The Public´s favorite is based on most sold full portions during the day, which must be reported through the cash report that is submitted in accordance with the participation conditions. Small dishes are thus not included. The jury here is absolute in its assessment of what counts as "a full" right. It is permitted - and welcome - to sell half portions and small dishes, but these are not included in the assessment.
What food and how many dishes should be cooked?
The contestant compose their own dish and serves it to each one in the jury directly from the Food Truck.
The Winner
Each category has its own jury group which judges according to the categories above. The jury appoints winners from each category and these category winners then compete for the overall victory in the Swedish Championship in Food Trucks. Reported jury results cannot be appealed.
Award ceremony
The awards ceremony will take place at the big stage in Kungsträdgården at approx. 12:00, Friday September 6.
Prices
All winners receive decals and marketing materials.
Competition times and details
Precise competition times, a map of the competition area and details of the competition will be announced to the Food Trucks who receive a confirmed place at the competition.
